Well-being is woven into the fabric of daily life at Virtus College. In a caring, connected community, students are supported to grow with confidence, balance and purpose, guided by mentors who know them, challenge them and champion their success.
A culture of care, connection and community.
We believe that a student’s sense of belonging is the foundation for personal and academic success.
What truly sets us apart is the strength of our relationships and the genuine care that underpins everything we do. Ours is a community where students are known as individuals and supported to thrive—not only in their studies, but in every aspect of life.
We are proud of our warm and vibrant Sixth Form environment, where pupils are encouraged to be themselves, challenge ideas and collaborate with purpose. This culture of mutual respect and trust is nurtured by teachers who are not only experts in their subjects but also exceptional mentors, skilled in supporting young people through a transformative stage of life.
We believe happiness
and high expectations are compatible.
Academic ambition and personal well-being go hand in hand. While we set high expectations for all our students, we never lose sight of the importance of happiness, balance and self-confidence. Our Mentoring System is central to this philosophy, placing individual care and personal development at the heart of the student experience.
In partnership with STEER Education, we adopt a proactive approach to wellbeing, equipping students with the tools to understand themselves and manage challenge with resilience. All staff receive comprehensive safeguarding training, ensuring that every student feels safe, heard and supported.
Through mentoring, students are also encouraged to take on leadership roles, whether through student-led clubs, debating or the Student Council, hence developing a deep sense of purpose and community spirit. Our aim is to empower every pupil to flourish as a thoughtful, capable and well-rounded individual.
A regulated use of technology for better focus and discipline.
In a world of constant digital distraction, we are committed to helping students build a healthy relationship with technology. Phones are collected each morning and returned at the end of the day, ensuring that students remain present, focused and fully engaged in school life.
Student iPads are fitted with safeguarding software, monitoring and limiting external access to create a learning environment that is both secure and purposeful. These practices are not about restriction, but about fostering clarity, discipline and digital wellbeing in an age that demands it.
