Academic awards

and competitions.

At Virtus College, a wealth of inspiring academic awards and competitions empowers our students to unlock their full potential. These experiences not only enrich their learning journey but also help them stand out in university applications and future careers.

Inspiring excellence beyond the curriculum.

Our students are challenged to think bigger, dig deeper and aim higher through a rich programme of academic extension activities.

Every pupil is expected to read beyond the curriculum and complete a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) aligned with their future aspirations. Each subject embeds compulsory stretch and challenge opportunities, including internationally recognised certifications and subject-specific competitions that not only deepen understanding but also enhance university applications.

At Virtus College, many of these experiences are exclusive, positioning us as the only British school in Spain to offer certain qualifications. This academic enrichment strategy reflects the expectations of top universities, who seek candidates able to demonstrate subject knowledge, independence and intellectual curiosity well beyond A-Level specifications.

EPQ

Extended Project Qualification

The EPQ stands for Extended Project Qualification. It is equivalent to an AS qualification and awarded UCAS points depending on the grades achieved. It is graded from A*- U  and is a strong addition to students´ profile. It also offers UCAS points which are points which can contribute towards application to university in the UK, and many universities will offer a lower grade entry criteria for students who have completed and secured a good EPQ grade.

  • Engineering
  • English

  • Geography
  • History
  • Maths
