Curriculum.

A-Levels allow students to specialise in subjects of their choice, studied in depth over two years. At Virtus College, students benefit from small class sizes, expert teachers, and a personalised university strategy to support their academic and university ambitions.

Unlike traditional A-Levels, Virtus College works with International A-Levels (IALs); this allows students to sit for exams in January and May of Year 12 and Year 13, thus dividing the content into four separate examination series.

It is also the only examination board that evaluates in a modular way. The advantages of this examination strategy and modular approach to teaching are innumerable.

At Virtus College, students choose 4 A-Level subjects to study over the course of two academic years (Year 12 and 13). We offer: Further Maths, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business, Geography, History, Psychology, Media, English and Spanish.

Spanish A-Level is mandatory for native Spanish speakers.

Subject choice depends on the degree pathway and a correct choice of A-Level subjects is essential. We guide each student through vocational profiling and aptitude testing to select the right subject combination for their university goals.

Virtus College is a specialist Sixth Form school offering a bespoke, university-focused education. With a maximum of 10 students per class, one-on-one mentoring, and our unique “Gate-to-Gate” strategy, we tailor every academic journey. Our students benefit from a dedicated Careers Team, a personalised Enrichment Programme, elite university pathways, and Spain’s largest Sixth Form work experience network, all in a close-knit, pre-university environment designed for success.

At Virtus College, high-achieving students benefit from our specialised Oxbridge & Ivy League programme, designed for those aiming at the world’s top universities. Through weekly seminars, expert mentoring, and advanced preparation for admissions tests like the SAT, MAT, or UCAT, students develop the intellectual depth, critical thinking, and academic distinction required for elite institutions. Our goal is not only to help students gain entry, but to prepare them to thrive once there.

At Virtus College, university preparation begins before students even enrol. Through early vocational testing and personalised A-Level planning, we align academic choices with long-term goals. Weekly careers lessons, expert mentoring, global university guidance, and tailored support for applications, essays, tests, and interviews ensure every student builds a strong, competitive profile. Students receive the most bespoke guidance resulting in a 100% university admission rate, with all securing offers from their first or second choice.

The Enrichment Programme at Virtus College is a core part of the Sixth Form experience, designed to bridge the gap between academic study and real-world application. As top universities increasingly seek candidates with curiosity, independence, and initiative—not just strong grades—our Enrichment Programme helps students develop the intellectual depth and personal skills that set them apart.

In Year 12, students choose two courses aligned with potential university pathways; in Year 13, they specialise in one. Each course culminates in a student-led project, such as medical research, a business launch, or a coding innovation, offering practical insight into future careers.

Through this programme, students gain transferable skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and research techniques, while also building self-awareness and a global perspective. It not only strengthens university applications but ensures our students are prepared to thrive at university and beyond.

Absolutely. A-Levels are globally recognised, and Virtus College students have gone on to study at top universities in the UK, USA, the Netherlands and beyond.

Yes. A-Level students can access Spanish public universities with up to 10 points through official recognition agreements. To reach the maximum 14 points, they must sit two “Pruebas de Competencia Específica” (EBAU subjects). These additional exams are required only for public university admissions. In contrast, all private universities in Spain accept A-Level students with 3 to 4 subjects and do not require the “Pruebas de Competencia Específica”.
